What is the Angel Boy Art Resource Center?

The Angel Boy Art Resource Center will expand our ability to provide crucial services to children with special needs in Vermont and enhance our ability to provide hands-on experiences to community members seeking to understand or support children with special needs. The key to Angel Boy Art’s overwhelming success thus far can be attributed to the empowering, individualized, education-centered structure central to Angel Boy Art’s operating philosophy, and this philosophy is what will make the Angel Boy Art Resource Center an overwhelming success as well.

The Angel Boy Art Resource Center is a multi-faceted program. The central purpose of the proposed resource center is to provide a space for children with special needs in Vermont to gain access to free educational art services. Staff will also travel to children’s homes when the child is not able to travel to the center. The resource center will also act as an art gallery for children with special needs to show and sell their artwork to the community. This will allow for community engagement and provide an opportunity to educate community members. Adaptive art supplies and traditional art supplies will be sold at the resource center; however, economically disadvantaged children with special needs will continue to receive adaptive supplies free of charge through our existing Art Fairy Program. The proposed center will host weekly and monthly events aimed at integrating children with special needs with their typical peers and other members of the community. Finally, the Angel Boy Art Resource Center will provide a central location for our daily operations.

Angel Boy Art, Incorporated’s current programs revolve around providing critical support to children with special needs and their families with emphasis on reaching economically disadvantaged special needs families in Vermont. Angel Boy Art is committed to bringing therapeutic, educational art sessions to individual families in their homes as well as groups of children in hospitals and respite facilities. Angel Boy Art’s individual sessions with children with special needs provide access to art education while promoting cognitive and social development specific to each child’s developmental needs. Other projects focus on engaging the community in a way that allows for education about children with special needs while promoting the establishment of open communication regarding the issues children with special needs face.
