Austin LeClaire
Austin is almost ten years old. He has a great sense of humor and is incredibly persistant and focused. He is a nature enthusiast and an artist. He loves to work with clay and draw with pencils. His art has been a great source of pride, something he can do better than his classmates, as well as a great way to exercise his hands and mind. Austin's work generally depicts animal scenes and dragons, but occasionally he will make a jar or plate.
Austin is the oldest of five kids - Max is 6, Tyler and Kiarra are 4 and James is 1. Austin and Max both have Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a degenerative disease that affects all the muscles of the body including the heart and diaphram, and causes learning difficulties and auditory processing issues. Duchenne does not currently have a cure, but there us some promising research out there and we do have hope.
